Malcolm MacGregor, for whom photography is about life and offers the chance to say something about the world we live in, has worked as a landscape and documentary photographer for over 20 years which has taken him from mountains, to deserts, to war zones. The former soldier, based in Scotland, who later went on to document through his photography the work of the HALO Trust, has travelled extensively from Oman to Iceland, from Afghanistan to Africa and closer to home has a portfolio of Scotland’s castles and gardens. He has been a photographer and writer for Scots Heritage Magazine.
His genre is wilderness as shown to great effect in his new book The Namib, a photographic journey through the wide-open spaces of desert and sea, soaring skies, and towering dunes of the coastal desert.
In conversation with James Knox.
